Blue Diamond sent me some almonds and I don’t think the combo I received was any mistake: one packet each of dark chocolate and sea salt. Always in search of healthy snacks between breakfast and lunch, for the 3 pm slump or after work, I made a simple snack playing off of the salty/sweet combination. The only problem will be portion control because this fruit/nut blend is DELICIOUS. This snack is perfect at the office, for kids (caution nut allergies!), or for a quick breakfast on the go.
For a very quick, simple, minimally processed snack, combine your favorite flavors – here are mine:
Chocolate Sea-salt Almond Mix
Equal amounts chocolate almonds and sea-salt almonds with some coconut flakes and dried, chopped unsulfured apricots. Mix them together, portion into Dixie cups and keep on hand for snacking emergencies! See full recipe below.
When you think of snack combos, be sure to blend carbohydrate, fat and protein sources. Click To Tweet For example, you have plant-based fats in the almonds and coconut plus protein in the nuts as well (6 grams in an ounce!) and carbohydrate in the apricots. Fiber abounds in all of these sources (10 grams in a cup of dried apricots) and you’ll get a dose of many different vitamins, minerals and antioxidants in addition to the other benefits.
What would you add to this mixture?
