Skewer and Kebab Recipe Round-up

September 4, 2017 by Ginger Hultin MS RDN

What a wonderful, fun Labor Day weekend with friends and family, boats, and bbq’s. Welcome to autumn everyone! Fortunately, in the Pacific Northwest it’s still feeling like summer. Seattle is in the high 80’s and sunny this weekend but I’m in Central Washington where we’re pushing into triple digits. I don’t mind because we’re out on the lake in boats, wine tasting up in the hills, and hitting the pool. We’re also grilling and making some end-of summer recipes which is why I reached out to my fellow Registered Dietitian food blogger friends for their best of skewer and kebab recipe round-up ideas. Let’s not give up on summer quite yet; there’s still time for end-of-summer recipes if this weather holds a bit longer. I plan on savoring the next few weekends and pretending like it’s not quite fall….yet.

This summer, I had a blast developing my popular Salad Skewers with Peanut Dressing  so make sure and visit that one again this Labor Day weekend. This simple salad is way more fun to eat on a stick. Quick to make and hearty, these serve well on hot days or packed to take to a picnic. Drizzle on your own dressing or try my simple peanut dressing you can whip up in minutes at home. But I”m not the only one to think of a salad or other veggies served on a stick. There are lots of fun foods to eat on a skewer or stick so I reached out to some of my favorite dietitian friends to see what ideas they had to offer. Check out the recipes below for all your simple serving needs as we head into fall.
